Version 1.1.0 released
Version 1.1.0 comes with some work still in progress. We decided to release this version a bit earlier, as some installation problems were encountered holding people back from installing and using Astro-Online. We hope this version will help to solve your installation problems.
English translation not yet at production level
Problem
The English translation of our Astro-Online content was given provided by an American consultant to offer you the best quality possible. Unfortunately the quality has proven to be less higher than expected. The current English content is not yet ready for production.
Solution
We have hired a professional translater who will work through the whole material again. This will take time, and is expected not to be ready before May.
The installation procedure fails during the import of the database - version 1.0.1
Problem
Under some circumstances the installation procedure fails during the import of the database. This is a null value related issue in the data file planetinsign_data.xml.
Solution
Download this patch and try again.
Astro-Online not available after installation - version 1.0.1
Problem
After installing Astro-Online version 1.0.1 the service returns an error when sending a request for a page.
Solution
There is an error in the installation procedure. As a result the configuration is not reloaded after the installation, although this is necessary for the first page request. Restarting the application server will solve the problem.
This problem is solved in the next release.
Installation with JDK 1.6 fails - version 1.0.1
Problem
There seems to be a problem to run Astro-Online with JDK 1.6. Astro-Online is not able to connect to the mysql database with this JDK version.
Solution
Astro-Online was tested with JDK 1.6 on Ubuntu and Fedora and worked fine. It is therefore expected that other platforms should work as well. Should you encounter JDK related issues, please download the source code and compile your release with the JDK you want tp deploy Astro-Online under.
